Favorite Songs of February mikhail, March 1, 2022May 10, 2024 Top songs I listened to on-repeat, and jammed out to for the month of February 2022! Most of these songs have been on my Spotify list for months now, but for February, these are the songs I have listened to repeatedly. Every day. In this post, I will share some background about the artists, their songs, my favorite components of the specific song, and include links for you all to jam out too! I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do! 1. ปล่อยรักให้ตาย (DEAD/LOVE) by TRYST ปล่อยรักให้ตาย (DEAD/LOVE) dropped in December 2021 as a single. TRYST is a Thai pop/rock band, under the Gene Lab label in Thailand. I was very excited to see another hit after hearing their debut song ALIVE in August. After hearing their music, along with songs from their label-mate Three Man Down, it sparked my interest in Thai pop/rock. At my first listen, I thought it was a slow song but I was pleasantly surprised shortly after. With lyrics like ‘Let your heart heal at its own pace,”it was clear it was a breakup song and I looked forward to the lyrics and flow of the song. “Let love be buried in your memories, let yourself go after your destinies,” were my favorite lyrics of the song. With catchy vocals, and strong drums, it is a clear 10/10. I am definitely hoping for their debut album soon. 2. Zombified by Falling In Reverse Zombified dropped January 2022 as a single. Falling in Reverse is a rock band that have released music since 2011, which was around the time when I first started listening. A classmate in my Biology class freshman year of high school gave me a list of songs to listen to, which is how I found them. With almost 5 years since Falling In Reverse’s last album, I was happy to hear they would be releasing more individual songs like they have been for the last 4 years. WARNING: there are zombie scenes in the music video, so if you do not like zombies, do not watch it 🙂 When I first listened to Zombified, it felt like a diss-track and I wasn’t expecting that to be their first release after a break. With lyrics saying “Oh no, they’ll never let go of something you said 10 years ago” and “zombified by the lies, we’ve become the walking dead,” it was their current perspective, but not my expectation. The production of the song definitely fits the sound they have been cultivating these last few years with singles, but I expected more from the lyrics. The song is still very catchy though, and I will continue to listen to it. Zombified is a part of their upcoming EP “Neon Zombie.” 3. Zoom by DNCE Just seeing the word Zoom gives me flashbacks to online learning and that was ROUGH. But anyways, Zoom dropped in 2016 on DNCE’s self-titled debut album. DNCE is a dance-pop band formed in 2016. After listening to this on repeat summer 2020, it made its way back to my playlists. I used to listen to this repeatedly while writing business papers for my summer classes. I loved the lyric “I got the plan to kill your blues, and all its gonna take is you and me,” because at the time I had a lot of things giving me the blues. With lyrics like “if you want to go to the moon, I’ll take you there baby,” I mean who wouldn’t want to hear those words? The song overall has a summery feel to me, and reminds me of fun in the sun, which is timeless. DNCE are currently teasing new music on their social media channels, so look I am looking forward to that! 4. Telepathy by BTS Telepathy dropped November 2020 on BTS’s full album “BE“. BTS is a Korean pop group that debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. “BE” is their fifth studio album, with songs focusing on feelings about the pandemic and being hopeful. I don’t remember the very first time I listened to this song, but I’ve listened more recently after hearing it live at the BTS Permission To Dance On Stage concert at the end of last year. It was a dance party during this song, so listening to it again reminds me of that time. With lyrics like “although we’re far apart now, our hearts are still the same” and “I feel happiest when I meet you,” it always gives me a smile. BTS might drop another album around the time they go to the Grammys and have their Permission To Dance: Vegas shows so of course, I’m hopeful. 5. Apocalypse Whenever by Bad Suns Apocalypse Whenever dropped in January 2022 on Bad Sun’s full length album the same name. Bad Suns is a rock band formed in 2012. I’ve listened to Bad Suns for a while, so I was excited when I heard some of their new songs. At my first listen, the song immediately reminded me of their older songs. My Bad Suns playlist was my go-to flight music when I would fly back and forth from Phoenix to LAX when I was in university. The intro to Apocalypse Whenever sounds almost identical to the intro to Disappear Here which I thought was cool. With lyrics like “Life tried to make me somebody I’m not” and “can’t separate me from me, I am all I’ve got,” stood out to me and solidified it as a great song. I haven’t listened to the full album yet, but I know it will be just as good. Did you like these songs? Leave a comment! kpop bad sunsbtsfalling in reversefavorite songsmusictryst
