Favorite Songs of July mikhail, August 1, 2022May 10, 2024 Top songs I listened to on-repeat, and jammed out to for the month of July 2022! Hello readers! I am back again with another installment of my top favorite songs for the month. These are songs I have listened to on-repeat this month. If any of them sound interesting, definitely check them out! 1. Born Again by Black Veil Brides Released on their latest album The Phantom Tomorrow, “Born Again” was one of their most successful b-sides. I first heard Black Veil Brides in my freshman year of high school, and although I do not listen to them regularly, they’ve held onto their sound over the years. Black Veil Brides’ discography always has a distinct sound and structure, without sounding the exact same. I randomly came across this new song late June, and immediately loved it, especially Andy’s voice at “the thunder sounds and I hear the call, the underground is the fire below.” The chorus is also very catchy so 10/10 and that’s why it’s number one on this list. The music video is also very eye-catching and deserves a flash warning, but it kept me interested. If you do not have flash sensitivity, definitely take a listen and watch! 2. Keeps Me Going by BANNERS This next song is a more recent release, since it dropped mid-July. I could go on and on about BANNERS perfect discography and the overarching themes and metaphors across every song, but I will save that for another entry so please keep an eye out for that. It was a nice surprise to hear the lyrics that he teased in his Instagram story back in March in this new song. I replied to his story teaser on Instagram at that time, and got a reply back which was fun. The lyrics are perfectly fitting, and have a light summery warmth to it. Starting the song with light guitar strumming and “I’m a mess sometimes, the world knows it better than I do,” made me smile the first time I heard it. With lyrics that say “when I get lost along this road, there’s a voice that calls me home and keeps me going,” there are many places that voice could come from. It could be your own inner voice, the voice of a friend or loved one, or even your parent’s voice that keeps you going. And of course, I loved the lyric “if I win or if I lose, I will always make it through ‘cause I know I got you to keep me going.” Many of his songs definitely kept me going when I went through difficult times the last few years. Maybe this song will keep you going for what you’re experiencing right now. 3. Sálvame by Rebelde After watching Season 1 of the Spanish teen drama Rebelde on Netflix, this was one of my favorite songs from the series. This version of “Sálvame” is more modern compared to the original early 2000s version when Rebelde was first on air. With modern background instruments, and more unique vocals (sorry Anahí) it’s a solid 10/10. The new version features more of the male band members’ voices in the verses, instead of just the lead Anahí which I really liked. Of course, there can’t be a re-make without the original creatively paving the way, so great job RBD! I also love heavier drums, so this version beats the original. 4. Love Right Back by Raiden feat. TAEIL of NCT Released in October of last year, this ultimate bop features the honey vocals of Moon Taeil from NCT. “Love Right Back” is a light break-up song with lyrics like “the gravity that locks me in breakaway, i am in my own orbit” and “hey, ‘cause if you love like that, I want my love right back.” I’ve been a fan of NCT for over four years now, and Taeil has always been one of my favorites as main vocalist. This is one of my favorite songs that Taeil has been featured on aside from his works in NCT. His voice is what ties many songs together. 5. Nowhere To Go by Bad Omens Released on their most recent album Death of Peace of Mind, “Nowhere To Go” was one of their title tracks. The music video was released through Sumerian Records, so I figured their genre was metal or metal-core before listening. Upon the first listen, I immediately liked the mysterious intro along with the starting verse “why’s this gotta happen to me, i should’ve known?” The heavy drums in the background really add a nice touch to the song, especially with the lead singers vocals. The music video is quite interesting with all the band members mirrored rooms. I hope you enjoyed my favorite songs of the month! Leave a comment if you liked these songs! favorites favorite songs
